Body Lamplighters OHCE of Canadian County met recently at a local church. Carol Stine offered the devotional titled “A Love Letter” and also read the poem “A Perfect Day.” It was from a different era about the many jobs women performed every day.

Body Five El Reno artists have been chosen to participate in an art show Sept. 24 in Oklahoma City at the Farmers Market. The artists featured are Justin Anderson, Jennifer Naumann, Hannah Cerne, Jordan Morris and Sue Bear.

Body Despite all the days of triple-digit temperatures recently, Aubrey Twilley’s watermelon patch was able to produce this large melon which tipped the scales at 37 pounds.  

Body Members of El Reno High School Class of 1959 gathered recently for lunch.

Body The El Reno Arts Council is inviting all children to come to Gadberry Park at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12 to take part in the “Art in the Park” program. Kids can spend an hour learning stamp art creation. The program is free.

Body El Reno High School Class of 1956 held a get-together recently at a local restaurant with 11 graduates and three spouses attending. If this group was still having reunions, this would be their 66th. They try to meet once a month, with the next gathering set for 10:20 a.m.

Body The Underwood Oklahoma Home and Community Education Association of Canadian County met recently at a local restaurant with Neta Liebscher as hostess. Lester Liebscher was welcomed as a visitor. Natalia Valenzuela called the meeting to order.

Body A stray rain shower Wednesday night resulted in a double rainbow, first photo, to form over El Reno. The second photo shows the same rainbow but with just a solo arc visible.  

Body The 125 descendants of Elmo and Agnes Finnigan held their annual reunion recently at Roman Nose State Park.
