The El Reno FFA Opening and Closing Ceremonies Team captured fourth place in the recent State FFA Contest. Some 50 teams from across Oklahoma took part in the competition at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater. The El Reno FFA team was among only eight to make it to the finals.

Banner School students learned fire safety tips from the El Reno Fire Department last week. October is Fire Safety Month. The ERFD has a specially designed Fire Safety House that allows firefighters to show students tips to prevent household fires as well as how to safely escape a fire.

Okarche High School’s production of “Property Rites” has advanced to the state contest in the OSSAA’s one-act play competition. The OHS cast and crew earned a spot at state by placing at one of three regional competitions.

The Oklahoma City Community Foundation recently awarded $15,000 in scholarships to three El Reno High School graduates for the 2022-23 academic year through the state’s largest independent scholarship program.

FCCLA Take AIM Leadership Conference was held recently at Moore Norman Career Tech. FCCLA chapters from all around Oklahoma participated. Okarche students Brianna Mollohan, Jordyn Darst, Ella Reherman and Macki Suanny attended with their adviser, Jacqueline Radford.

Lamplighters OHCE of Canadian County met recently at a local church. Carol Stine opened the meeting with a devotional titled “God’s Picket Fence.” Patricia Morrison read minutes from the last meeting and gave the treasury report. Membership forms were filled out and dues collected for 2023.
