P.E.O. Chapter AE names Castanon as West Lyons scholarship winner

Anna Rinehart hosted Chapter AE of P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) International for their May meeting, with Christy Eichholz serving as co-hostess.

Other members attending were Lindsey Vise, Cynthia Jensen, Ann Zavy, Janan Fletcher, Karen Pappas and Janice Jensen.

Zavy gave the devotional from Matthew 7:12 and led the chaplain’s prayer. Vise read minutes from last month’s meeting.

Pappas gave the treasurer’s report.

Underwood Club discusses Mother Road celebrations

The Underwood Club of Oklahoma Home and Community Education met recently in the home of Ann Ricketts.

Other members attending were Bernita Davis, Delpha Miklautsch, Natalia Valenzuela, Vicki Duncan and Janan Fletcher. Everyone in attendance received an updated version of the Route 66 Passport.

After the flag salute, roll call was answered to “How do you get your kicks on Route 66?” 

Senior Follies releases show dates

The 2026 Oklahoma Senior Follies announces two upcoming performances set for 7 p.m. Saturday, June 6 and 2 p.m. Sunday, June 7 at UCO Mitchell Hall, 100 University Drive in Edmond.

The event will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.

El Reno resident Linda Slane will be among the talented cast of Oklahoma seniors.

Beecham Cemetery Association to hold meeting, potluck

Body

The Beecham Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting and potluck on Saturday, May 16 at St. Luke’s Methodist Church, 900 N. Sooner Road, Edmond. The meeting and annual auction is open to the public. 

The association is celebrating 135 years of stewardship. Historical archives will be made available for viewing, and copies of the book “Blistered Heels” will be available for purchase.

RLC tutor named scholarship recipient

Body

Wesley Women, the women’s Bible study group of Wesley United Methodist Church, selected Roblyer English Language Learner Tutor Jhoana Gonzalez-Ramirez as the inaugural recipient of the Next Chapter Scholarship. 

Ramirez has been with El Reno Public Schools for three years helping Spanish-speaking students learn English. She is working on her associate’s degree at Redlands Community College.

During a recent assembly, scholarship committee members Dr. Dorrie Parrott and Amy Neathery surprised Ramirez with the announcement.
