Body In a special meeting June 28, the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Commission approved significant changes for wild turkey hunting season date

Body El Reno High School’s volleyball program was greeted with its largest turnout for a youth skills camp as 71 campers took part in three days worth of fundamentals training as well as team-building games and competitions.

Body El Reno High School’s baseball program held its first youth skills camp since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The camp brought 80 players from El Reno, Okarche, Calumet and other towns to the Hub Reed Complex for three days of fundamentals.

Body While teams they have faced during summer league action may have been fine-tuning their lineups for the upcoming 2021-22 basketball season, El Reno High School coach Rodney Haydon has been evaluating a new crop of players.

Body After scoring just two runs in the first two games earlier this summer with Heritage Hall, El Reno High School’s baseball team put up 10 runs against the Chargers but lost 9-4 and tied 6-all.   Catcher Gabe Compton reaches up to snag a throw to the plate as a runner slides in.

Body El Reno had 56 campers attend the three-day EHS Basketball Camp. It was one of several youth clinics restarted this summer after the ease of COVID-19 restrictions. See upcoming editions for photos from baseball and volleyball camps.  

Body Following six straight road games to kick off the season, El Reno High School’s summer baseball team jumped back into Red Dirt League action last week, splitting home games with Putnam City West and tying Destiny Christian.

Body El Reno High School graduate Ryan Island, seated center, signed a national letter of intent recently to play basketball for Haskell Indian Nations University located in Lawrence, Kan. He is the second player off El Reno’s program to sign with a college team in the sport.  

Body El Reno High School’s Dailey Jennings earned All-American status earlier this month wrestling for Team Oklahoma at the 2021 USA Wrestling 16-and-under National Duals. Formerly known as the Cadet National Duals, the event was held in Westfield, Ind.
