LaVerne Waggoner

LaVerne Marie Meyer Waggoner went to her heavenly home on March 20, 2024, at the age of 89.

She was born at home Jan. 27, 1935, in Okarche to Henry A. and Mary Bomhoff Meyer and was baptized Feb. 17, 1935, and confirmed on April 10, 1949, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Okarche.

David Bosler

Body

Funeral services for David Bosler will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 25 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Union City, under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

David passed away Feb. 25, 2024, at home. He was born July 28, 1954, to Oscar and Faye (South) Bosler. David attended Union City schools and graduated high school in 1972. He then attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant on a baseball scholarship, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in education.

Elizabeth Jackson

Body

Elizabeth Ann Jackson died March 19, 2024, at River Oaks Skilled Nursing and Therapy in El Reno. She was born June 15, 1938, in Luther.

She was a print shop assistant for Redlands Community College.

Elizabeth is survived by her sister, Christine Stoner of El Reno and brother, Robert Jesse Jackson of Phoenix, Ariz.

No services are planned. Arrangements are by Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Lillie Avery

Body

Services for Lillie Lenora Avery of Minco were held Saturday, March 16 at the United Methodist Church in Minco, under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Lillie passed away March 12, 2024, at her home.

She was born Nov. 5, 1938, in Pocasset, and graduated from Midwest City High School in 1957. She was employed with Tinker Air Force Base, later transferring to the McAlister Ammunition Depot, where she retired in the late 1980s. She had also worked for Fountainhead State Park in Eufaula.

Dorothy Moore

Body

Funeral services for Dorothy Fern (Little) Moore will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20 at Calumet United Methodist Church with Dr. Tony Moore officiating.

Burial will be in the Calumet Cemetery under the direction of Turner Funeral Home, Geary. Public viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

Dorothy was born April 25, 1929, in San Pedro, Calif., to William Evan Sr. and Dorothy Grainger (Shumate) Little. Fern went to be with the Lord on March 11, 2024.

Melvin Paul Knight

Body

Melvin was 71 when he passed away at his home on Feb. 21, 2024. He was born Sept. 7, 1952, in the Okarche Hospital. He was an Army veteran. Melvin moved to California where he worked in forestry, and moved back to El Reno to help take care of his mother.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Knight, and Louise Knight Grisby and husband, Wallie Grisby.

William Rednose

Body

William Dean Rednose was born Feb. 14, 1957, in Kingfisher to Griffin Anthony Rednose and Elvena Newakis Starr. He did labor on landscaping for a living. He married Leslie Rednose until her passing. They had a baby girl that passed at birth, Summer Dawn Rednose. Years later he married Daisy Bushy until her passing.

William was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Summer Dawn Rednose; his nephew, Christopher Dean Campbell; and wife, Daisy Rednose.

Arnold ZumMallen

Body

Funeral services for Arnold ZumMallen were held Monday, March 11 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Okarche with Rev. Joel Heckmann and Rev. Jeff Klade officiating. Burial followed at St. John’s Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Arnold died March 6, 2024. He was born Oct. 14, 1931, in the El Reno Hospital. He attended St. John’s Lutheran School in Okarche and graduated from Okarche High School in 1949. Arnold was raised on the family farm east of Okarche and started farming with his father in his teen years.

Wake services for Linden Royce “Dim” Blackwolf were held March 8 at the Canton E.R.C. with Pastor Waylan Upchego officiating. Funeral services were held March 9 at the same venue with interment in the Canton Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Canton.
