Redlands Community College’s golf team will be headed back to Florida for the 2022 NJCAA Women’s Golf Championship after picking up one of five at-large bids.
The Cougars, ranked eighth in the nation, finished third in the Southwest District Championship in Fort Worth, an event which featured three top 10 teams.
Western Texas Community College, fourth nationally, won the district title.

With the sweep, the Indians third in league play, El Reno finished in fifth place with an 8-6 record. But that finish could improve a spot depending on the outcome of a Guthrie/Bishop McGuinness makeup game.
El Reno, now 16-18 on the spring, won the first game of the series at the Hub Reed Complex by a 3-2 score.
Despite shooting one of its lowest scores of the season, El Reno High School’s girls golf team missed qualifying for the Class 5A Girls State Golf Championship.
Playing in the 5A West Regional on the South Course at Lake Hefner, El Reno carded a team score of 407. The effort fell 31 strokes short of the final team spot for state, which went to Guthrie with a 376.
“The team scores to make it to state were a lot better than they were last season,” said El Reno head coach Cameron Wilkins.
Calumet High School’s baseball team, ranked 17th in the state, drew the second seed for the Class A, Region 5 Championships but will have to get past fifth-ranked and host Dewar to make state.
The Chieftains, now 21-3 on the year, defeated Mountain View-Gotebo 19-1 in a tuneup game. Calumet takes an 11-game win streak into regionals after snatching the District 19 Championship with two victories over Wellston (12-0/18-3) and a third over Waukomis (18-5).
Tyler Tignor’s team was set to face Elmore City/Pernell in the first round of regionals.
A pair of losses to 10th-ranked Hydro-Early spelled the end of the season for Union City High School’s slow-pitch softball team in the Class A, District 12 Championship.
The Tigers, 24-15 on the spring, defeated Waukomis by scores of 11-1 and 13-3 between setbacks to the Bobcats by tallies of 12-1 and 15-2.
Over the four-game set, Union City was 35-of-107 (.327) from the plate with three doubles and a triple by Mackenzie DeLong.
Alexis Archer, Emily Griggs and DeLong had a two-bagger each.
El Reno High School’s boys soccer team won the battle on the field against Guymon last week but ended up losing the war to get into the postseason to the Tigers.
The Indians made the eight-hour round-trip trek to the panhandle for a makeup match which was called off four days earlier due to severe weather. El Reno returned home with a 1-0 victory, its fourth in a row, but finished in a three-way tie for the final two playoff spots.
Southeast won the District 5A-2 title with a 7-0 record and Piedmont was the runner-up at 6-1.
While scoring 20 runs off Murray State, Redlands Community College’s baseball team slipped back into last place in the NJCAA Region 2, Division 2 standings after being swept by the Aggies.
Redlands fell 16-8 and 9-4 in the home doubleheader, before losing 7-2 and 13-6 in the two games at Tishomingo. The Cougars dropped to 8-20 in the league standings and 19-33 overall for the spring.
Over the four-game series, Redlands went 35-of-123 from the plate for a .285 average, logging nine doubles, a triple from David Garcia and home runs from Nolan Gagnon and Garcia.
The Calumet Chieftains, ranked 17th in the state, won the Class A, District 19 Championship over the weekend with two wins over Wellston and a third over Waukomis by a combined 48-8 margin.
Calumet was the lone small school in the county to emerge from the district round of the baseball postseason.
