El Reno High School hosted a freshman tournament at Crimson Creek Golf Course last week with the Indians placing third with a nine-hole team score of 242.
Team members and scores were Skylar Ayers (49), Trinity Black (56), Makenna Curtis (66), Kayla Wieland (70), Addysen Ashford (69), Amya Eaglenest (70), Samantha Johnson (70) and Emma Eisenhower (65).
El Reno High School’s trapshooting team will take the top seed into next week’s Oklahoma Scholastic Shooting Sports Program’s State Championships after winning the Northwest Regional.
The state shoot is Wednesday at the Oklahoma Trapshooting Association Park on Jensen Road. The OKSSSP is sponsored by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife.
El Reno logged the highest regional score with a 220, with sisters Emma and Madison Patswald finishing in a three-way tie for first place in the High School Girls Division with scores of 24.
A little home course knowledge worked its magic last week at the 2022 El Reno High School Invitational as the EHS boys golf team shaved 48 strokes off its score from the previous day.
The effort lifted the Indians to a fifth-place finish with a 390 total in the 11-team field.
Tuttle’s varsity won the event, held at Crimson Creek Golf Course, with a 332 tally. Altus was second with a 337, followed by Guymon (379) and Tuttle’s junior varsity at 383.
Weatherford was the only other team to break 400 at 398.
Battling through the toughest part of its District 5A-1 schedule, El Reno High School’s baseball team has suffered some hard knocks, the most recent delivered by co-leader Carl Albert.
The Titans defeated El Reno 14-0 and 13-1 in a doubleheader at the Hub Reed Complex. The losses dropped El Reno to fifth in the district standings at 3-4 and extended the Indians losing streak to eight games.
El Reno will take an 8-11 overall record into this week’s Bill Tipton Classic.
Doubling up Southeast in both shots and attempts on frame, El Reno High School’s girls soccer team snapped a two-match losing streak last week with a 4-0 win over the Spartans.
The shutout victory was the first for El Reno in District 5A-2 play as the Indians improved to 1-2 and into fifth place. Andrea Williams’ team took a 6-2 overall record into its match with Midwest City.
El Reno High School’s boys soccer team remained locked in a three-way tie in the cellar of the District 5A-2 standings after last week’s 7-0 road loss to co-leader Southeast.
The setback extended El Reno’s losing streak to six matches as the Indians fell to 0-3 in the league standings and 1-7 overall.
Guthrie and Carl Albert are both winless in 5A-2 play and remain ahead of EHS on the schedule.
El Reno High School’s tennis teams were back in action last week for the 2022 Suburban Conference Championships.
The boys fielded only singles players, earning seven points in the team standings to take seventh. Xiven Wallin, playing in the top bracket, lost in straight sets to Piedmont’s Bradley Carr, but rebounded with a 6-1/6-3 win over Del City’s Admir Deyu.
Wallin finished sixth after a 6-1/6-0 setback to Shawnee’s Hagen Wells.
CALUMET — Despite logging 12 base hits, Calumet High School’s slow-pitch softball team continues to look for its first win of the season after dropping a 17-4 game to Thomas/Fay-Custer.
Calumet trailed the Terriers 8-4 going into the fifth inning but allowed nine runs in the frame to slip to 0-12 on the season.
Jazmine Mayo went 2-for-3 from the plate with a run scored, while Paige Mayo and Kylee Smith logged two base hits each and combined for three runs scored. Tina Ortiz added a pair of base hits.
Union City High School’s baseball team climbed over the .500 mark for the season after snapping a two-game losing streak with a trio of road wins.
The Tigers moved to 7-6 on the spring with victories over Lomega (15-7), Alex (8-0) and Cement (13-6).
Union City hit 20-of-60 (.333) for the three-game win streak with seven doubles and triples from Aiden Ellington and Dalton Stout. Ellington added a home run to lead all Tigers hitters with a 5-of-8 (.625) effort with six runs batted in and three more scored.
The Canadian County Association for Oklahoma Home and Community Education is awarding two $500 scholarships to students planning to attend a two- or four-year college or university.
Scholarships are available to any 2022 graduating senior or new G.E.D. certificate holder who resides in Canadian County, is registering for further education for the first time and will be attending an institution of higher education full-time. Recipients will be selected on the basis of financial need, academic record and character recommendations.
