El Reno High School's football team was scheduled to travel down Interstate 40 Friday night to play Weatherford to wrap up the non-district portion of its 2022 schedule. El Reno is 0-2 on the year following a 42-8 loss at Piedmont.

The Indians dropped two matches to the Demons and Chickasha last week.

Redlands Community College’s soccer team made a pair of first-half goals stand up en route to a 2-1 win over Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. It was the first win of the season for the Cougars, who improved to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the NJCAA Region 2 standings.

Since dropping its first loss of the fall season, Calumet High School’s baseball team has rebounded with a six-game winning streak over several notable ranked squads.

Union City High School’s fast-pitch softball team has logged only three wins in its last seven games, but head coach Cody Schmidt can see signs of the Tigers becoming a tough opponent come playoffs.

While some coaches would like to have what is termed as a “weak sister” somewhere on their non-district schedule in order to pick up early-season wins, El Reno High School head coach Russell Cook has a different philosophy. “You don’t get better playing those games,” said Cook.

A shot at a key road win slipped through the grasp of El Reno High School’s volleyball team last week as the Indians fell to Shawnee 3-2 in league play. The 18-26/25-22/25-22/22-25/7-15 cliffhanger loss dropped El Reno to 6-6 on the season and 0-2 in the Suburban Conference standings.

Despite swinging the bats in step with that of league-leader Piedmont, El Reno High School’s fast-pitch softball team was unable to match the run production of the Wildcats. El Reno was outhit by a close 8-7 margin, but managed less than a handful of runs in a 14-4 setback to the Wildcats.

Redlands Community College’s soccer team lost yet another close early-season match after a 2-1 setback to the University of Arkansas Rich Mountain in the Cougars 2022 home opener. The loss dropped Redlands to 0-3 on the year and 0-1 in the NJCAA Region 2 standings.

PIEDMONT – Russell Cook knew there was a chance his El Reno High School football team would struggle on defense against Piedmont's flexbone rushing attack. Little did he expect the cross-county rivalry game would become a defensive nightmare.
