Economist says Canadian County, OKC market growth expected to outpace national average

The audience at the El Reno Now quarterly breakfast got an update on what’s happening with the City of El Reno as well as El Reno Public Schools and also learned the population of Canadian County is expected to double over the next two decades. 

Dr. Russell Evans, chief economist of the Thorberg Collectorate in Oklahoma City, told the audience El Reno, Canadian County and other areas in the Oklahoma City market should prepare for growth that outpaces the national level.

Landowners file suit over El Reno annexation plans

About two dozen Canadian County landowners are suing El Reno city officials over their recent decision to expand the city limits through annexation.

The lawsuit was filed Jan. 30 in Canadian County District Court against two defendants – the City of El Reno, a municipal corporation, and the El Reno City Council, a municipal governing body. The suit lists two causes of action, declaratory judgment and inverse condemnation.

Banner proposes $7 million school bond issue to deal with enrollment

Voters in the Banner School District will cast ballots in a Tuesday, Feb. 11 election to help fund a school expansion project that would address rising enrollment.

Banner Public School patrons are being asked to support a $7 million bond proposal that will be paid back over the next 10 years.

Banner School, 2455 N. Banner Road, has students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.

Iconic B’s team up to help raise funds for Okarche’s CFL

Legendary Oklahoma football coach Barry Switzer and Hall of Fame sports columnist Berry Tramel teamed up last week to help raise funds for the Center of Family Love in Okarche. 

An evening with Barry and Berry was held at the Cattlemen’s Steakhouse Event Center in Oklahoma City. Joe Prichard of Pete’s Place in Krebs and Ryan Eaton of El Reno provided a dinner menu that featured the Italian dishes Pete’s Place is famous for, as well as El Reno’s signature staple fried onion hamburgers.
