ER matmen pin down eighth in Chickasha bid

El Reno High School’s boys wrestling team wrapped up its regular-season tournament schedule with an eighth-place showing at the recent 2025 Chickasha Classic.

The Indians, ranked 13th in Class 5A, scored 104 points in the 18-team meet which was won by the host with 287.5 points.

Piedmont (201) was a distant second and Yukon (151) was sixth.

Mason Hoffman (106) scored 24 team points with a second-place finish following a 3-0 loss to Del City’s Evan Colbert.

Hoffman logged a 4-1 record including one fall over Southmoore’s Jayden Camua (2:37).

Indians place six in Sand Springs meet

Body

One of four county entries in the 30-squad field, El Reno High School’s girls wrestling team placed 23rd in the recent 2025 Sand Springs Girls Only Invitational.

El Reno logged 133.5 team points behind six placers. Remy Whitney (100) led the way with a runner-up finish and 38 points, losing in the finals to Westmoore’s Kyrain Perez by a 10-9 margin.

The freshman went 4-1 with three falls, the quickest in 1:54 over Tonkawa’s Jazmin Dollarhide.

Union City, Warriors gain late-season hoop victories

Union City High School rebounded from a loss to Class 2A’s fifth-ranked Oklahoma Bible Academy with back-to-back wins over Ninnekah and Cement.

The Tigers fell to OBA 59-27 before earning a forfeit win over the Owls 2-0, followed by a 33-point blowout of Cement (57-24).

Union City improved to 12-9 on the year.

Breanna Goad was the top scorer for Union City over the three games with 34 points, 25 of those in a game-high effort against Cement. Morgan Brothers added 14 in the win over the Bulldogs and 20 total.
