Hesse removes name from Supreme Court consideration over residency

Body

Canadian County District Judge Paul Hesse has ended potential consideration by Gov. Kevin Stitt to be appointed as an Oklahoma Supreme Court justice.

Hesse filed an application to fill the vacated seat previously held by Yvonne Kauger, who retired shortly after Oklahoma voters declined to retain her in the Nov. 5 election.

Hesse withdrew his application on Wednesday, Jan. 29 because of a residency requirement and recent redistricting in Oklahoma for members of the U.S. House of Representatives.
