Wesley Women, the women’s Bible study group of Wesley United Methodist Church, selected Roblyer English Language Learner Tutor Jhoana Gonzalez-Ramirez as the inaugural recipient of the Next Chapter Scholarship. 

Ramirez has been with El Reno Public Schools for three years helping Spanish-speaking students learn English. She is working on her associate’s degree at Redlands Community College.

During a recent assembly, scholarship committee members Dr. Dorrie Parrott and Amy Neathery surprised Ramirez with the announcement. 

Okarche High School March Students of the Month are Gabe Vogt, Easton Roby, Reese Robinson, Austin Walker, Max Gruntmeir and Jake Rother.

Named as March Lion and Lioness honorees are seniors Ethan Kirby and Addison Mingus.

Clutch hitting seems to have left the offensive lineup for El Reno High School’s baseball team following an 8-0 home loss to Elk City at the Hub Reed Complex.

The Indians slipped to 12-17 on the season with its second straight shutout loss.

El Reno left eight base runners stranded in the loss to the Elks including the bases loaded in the bottom of the first inning.

The Indians stranded two runners in the bottom of the fifth trying to avoid the run-rule.
