El Reno High School began its list of state-level Special Olympics events with Unified Volleyball.
Athletes with special needs were paired with partners for the event which was held in Norman at the University of Oklahoma.
El Reno High School is experiencing one of its most successful years on the various athletic playing surfaces as well as in the classroom with its many student organizations.
“I’m extremely proud of what we have been able to do with our Academic Teams as well as speech, debate and all our athletics,” said El Reno Public Schools Superintendent Matt Goucher.
“It’s very positive and goes along with our school’s mission to inspire excellence. I’m proud of all our coaches and kids.”
Two longtime supporters of youth agriculture were inducted into the Canadian County Junior Livestock Show Hall of Fame.
The induction came at the conclusion of the annual event that was held at the Canadian County Expo and Event Center.

A report of a runaway child being found led authorities to the discovery of five children in a Piedmont home who had allegedly been abused.
The discovery led to the arrest of two adults.
Tina Marie Ramirez and Anthony Ibeziako were booked into the Canadian County Jail on complaints of child neglect. Ramirez was also booked on complaints of child abuse by injury, neglect and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
The Oklahoma Supreme Court has ruled that an initiative-petition effort may proceed that would link Oklahoma’s minimum wage to the cost of living in places like San Francisco.
That contradicts one of the court’s prior rulings. That alone is not shocking since courts often overturn earlier rulings.
But in this case, the Oklahoma Supreme Court majority refused to explain with a written opinion why justices reversed course, defying judicial norms in ways some warn create vast legal uncertainty in Oklahoma.
