Body Fresh Anointing Church will host a Holy Smokes Barbecue Cook-Off at the church on Saturday, Aug. 19 from 10 a.m. until they run out of food. The funds raised will go to re-stocking the church’s pantry.

Body El Reno student Rylan Fleenor recently attended the 2023 American Farmers & Ranchers (AFR) Youth Leadership Summit. The annual retreat develops leadership skills in junior high and high school students that will prepare them for future educational and professional experiences.

Body El Reno High School class of 1956 gathered for a birthday party for those class members turning 85 this year. There were also classmates attending from 1957 and 1959. The tree was planted by the class at their 60th reunion in 2016, with the benches later added.

Body Rachel Lauren Hobson and Trace John Gatz, both of Norman, announce their plans to marry Oct. 6 at Festivities Event Center, El Reno. Hobson is the daughter of Todd and Tricia Hobson of El Reno.

Body Madison Brickey and Larry Funck, both of El Reno, announce their plans to marry Sept. 3 at Bricktown Myriad Gardens in Oklahoma City with Kade Brickey officiating. Brickey is the daughter of Kade and Lacey Brickey of El Reno.

Body The 130 descendants of Elmo and Agnes Finnigan held their annual reunion recently at Roman Nose State Park.

Body This duck shows no interest in the floating bubble near its head while swimming across Lake El Reno during the 2023 Smoke on the Water Drag Boat Races. The bubble came from a bubble machine being used by children during a break in the action.

Body Lamplighters OHCE of Canadian County met recently at Mt. Zion Methodist Church. Carol Stine called the meeting to order, while Donna Wehmuller led in the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call was answered with members offering their favorite pineapple recipe.
