Services for Joshua Wade Goulsby were held June 15 at Southern Heights Baptist Church.

Joshua passed away May 26, 2024, in Oklahoma City. He was born Aug. 8, 1984, in El Reno. He grew up and attended school in El Reno and had made his home in Oklahoma City in recent years.

Joshua is survived by his sons, Keyantae Goulsby and Keyandre Johnson; his father, Leonard Lang Sr.; brothers, Leonard Lang Jr., Jordan Cooksey and Isiah Cooksey; and sisters, DeShaen Brewer, Shawnta Lang and Sierria Cooksey.

Dwayne Stevens

Memorial services for Dwayne LeRoy Stevens of Minco were held Saturday at Canaan Baptist Church, under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Dwayne died July 1, 2024, at his home. He was born July 31, 1964, in Mesa, Ariz. He was a 1983 graduate of Minco High School.

Dwayne was employed as a concrete cutter for Oklahoma Coring and Cutting for several years and was a member of Canaan Baptist Church.

Marilyn Elizabeth Stangl

Body

Marilyn Elizabeth Stangl of Okarche peacefully went to be with our Heavenly Father on June 29, 2024, at the age of 91, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. 

Marilyn was born Aug. 19, 1932, in Kingfisher. She was the daughter of Joe and Teresa (Schaefer) Mueggenborg of Kingfisher. At the age of 16, she graduated high school from Sacred Heart Academy in Wichita.

On July 16, 1953, she married EJ Stangl, and they were blessed with seven children, raising them on a farm northwest of Okarche, where faith and family values were instilled.

Evelyn Marie Rodgers

Body

Evelyn Marie Rodgers passed away June 28, 2024. She was born Sept. 15, 1930, in Santa Rosa, N.M., to parents, Lloyd and Nellie Irwin. Evelyn had a wonderful 93 years of life. 

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Nellie; her husband, Sonny Rodgers; and a daughter, Sharon Olds. 

She is survived by her son, Jim Essinger and wife, Debbie; daughter, Sophie Chatham and husband, Paul; grandchildren, Chance Essinger, Adriana Dunk and Tara Douglas and husband, Corey, as well as two great-grandchildren.

Daniel Magpie Jr.

Daniel Warren Magpie Jr. died June 22, 2024, at his home in El Reno. He was born April 25, 1942, in Canton where he lived most of his life.

He was a member of the Native American Church and worked at Lucky Star Casino as a machine technician. He was known as June Corn to his family and friends.

June Corn is survived by his son, Daniel Magpie III; daughter, Arlene Doyebi; sister, Susan Magpie Sleeper; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Linda Gomez

Body

Services for Linda Kay Gomez were held Thursday at the Geary Emergency Response Center, with cremains buried in the Pedro Family Cemetery in Calumet.

Services were under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home. 

Linda died June 17, 2024, at Holy Cross Hospital in Taos, N.M. She was born March 25, 1949, in Clinton and was raised in Calumet. She lived most of her life in Taos where she worked as a paralegal. 

Linda is survived by her son, Joe Gomez of Taos; brother, David Pedro; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Frank Gibson

Services are pending for Frank Leroy Gibson. Mr. Gibson passed away June 27, 2024.

He was born Feb. 6, 1959, in El Reno.

Robert Revel

Robert Douglas “Doug” Revel went to be the Lord on June 16, 2024. He was born Oct. 20, 1960, in Chickasha to Robert and Sue Revel.

Doug attended El Reno High School where he met the love of his life, Lori Hauenstein.

Doug and Lori were married May 2, 1980. They had two children, K’Leigh and J.T.

Doug worked alongside his dad at the family business, M & W Auto Supply.

He later went to work at Tinker Air Force Base as an airplane mechanic.

He retired from Tinker in October 2022.

Funeral services for Edwina Jean Thompson will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 24 at Wesley United Methodist Church with Bishop Micolous Griffis and Pastor Craig E. Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in the El Reno Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Edwina died June 17, 2024, in Oklahoma City. She was born April 18, 1947, in Wichita, Kan.

A longtime resident of El Reno, Edwina was deputy court clerk for Canadian County, retiring with 35 years of service. She was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church.
