Susan Dickens

Susan W. Dickens, 79, of Norman, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Aug. 3, 2024. Born to Otto and Anna Wiese of El Reno on April 24, 1945, Susan was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Susan worked for Tinker Air Force Base and after retiring in 2005, she found joy in her passion for gardening and spending time in her greenhouse.

Billy Williams

Memorial services for Billy Dale Williams of El Reno will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 at Faith Family Church with Paul Roach officiating.

Billy passed away Aug. 6, 2024. He was born May 10, 1947, in El Reno. A Navy veteran, Billy was employed as a boilermaker and also worked for Cavins Body Shop. He was one of the founding members of the El Reno Car Club. 

Billy is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Mark Williams of El Reno; daughter, Lucinda Williams of Yukon; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Patricia Halbert

Body

Graveside service for El Reno resident Patricia Ann Halbert will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 at the El Reno Cemetery with Rev. Mike Moss officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Patricia died Aug. 2, 2024, at her stepdaughter’s home in Edmond. She was born June 2, 1954, in El Reno. She was a homemaker and a Christian.

On Oct. 25, 1994, she and Roy Lee Halbert were married in Oklahoma City. Roy survives her.

Annie OldBear

Body

Annie Mae OldBear died July 30, 2024, at Pam Health Specialty Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born Dec. 11, 1971, in Crow Agency, Mont.

She attended the Jones Academy Boarding School in Hartshorne. During her teenage years and 20s, she lived in Wichita, Kan., before moving to Oklahoma City.

She obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma. Annie worked in various fields including accounting and volunteered at Feed the Children. She was legally blind.

Glynna Jackson

Body

Services for Glynna B. Jackson were held Tuesday, Aug. 6 at Huber-Benson Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Horse officiating. Burial followed at the Concho Cemetery. 

Glynna died July 30, 2024, at The Grand in Bethany. She was born Oct. 15, 1942, in Union City. Before retiring, she worked as a drug/alcohol counselor for the Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribes.

Glynna is survived by her sons, Bobby Jackson and Everett Jackson; daughters, Anice Seuffert, Kelley Hamby, Mischelle James and Barbara Myers; and 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services for Jimmie Don Woods of Union City will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2 at the Huber-Benson Memorial Chapel in El Reno.

Burial will follow at the Union City Cemetery, under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home in Minco.

Jimmie Don passed away July 29, 2024, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born Nov. 11, 1948, in Union City. He was raised in Union City and graduated from Union City High School. He developed his trade in carpentry, that would serve him throughout his life.

Graveside services for Linda Marie Mays of El Reno will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 29 at the El Reno Cemetery with Pastor Randy Rhoton officiating.

Services are under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Linda died Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at River Oaks Skilled Nursing in El Reno. She was born in Kingfisher on Nov. 11, 1944.

She was a caregiver for people in their homes. Linda loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them, especially her famous chicken and noodles. She was a member of Bethel Community Church in Yukon.

Wanda Hopkins

Services for Wanda Faye Hopkins of El Reno will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Grant Findley officiating. Services are under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Wanda died July 12, 2024, at Integris Canadian Valley Hospital in Yukon. She was born Sept. 9, 1947, in Pueblo, Colo. She was raised in Fountain, Colo., where she graduated from Fountain High School. She worked as an assistant C.P.A. in Denver, Colo., before relocating to San Diego, Calif.

Leslie Oretha Buford

Leslie Oretha “Cookie” Buford, age 69, passed away Nov. 21, 2023, in Highland Park, Ill. She was born Dec. 17, 1953, in El Reno, Oklahoma, Canadian County. Leslie was a beloved sister, aunt and friend.

Leslie, known affectionately as Cookie, was a loving, kind, giving, trustworthy and beautiful person, both inside and out. She possessed a brilliant mind and had a passion for learning. She completed her primary education at Booker T. Washington and graduated from El Reno High School.

Norma Vickrey

Body

Services for Norma Lee Vickrey of Minco were held Thursday, July 25 at Minco First Baptist Church, with burial following at the Evergreen Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Norma died July 22, 2024, at St. Katharine Drexel Assisted Living Center in El Reno.

She was born May 15, 1935, in Minco. She was raised in the Minco community, graduating from Minco High School in 1954. Norma was co-owner of the Minco Cotton Gin and was the bookkeeper for 19 years. She was a member of Minco First Baptist Church.
