Susan Coleman Small

Susan Coleman Small was born April 22, 1954, to Harry Samuel Jr. and Irene (Matkowska) Coleman in Okarche. She passed away early Monday, April 25, 2022, at Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 68.

Susan graduated from Calumet High School and received her associate degree from Redlands Community College in El Reno. She married Terry Small in 1974 and had two children, Chris and Dorian. Susan later earned a bachelor’s degree from USAO in Chickasha.

Delma Mendel

Graveside services for Delma Sue Mendel were held Monday, April 25 at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Okarche with Deacon Charles Krumsiek officiating.

Services were under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Sue died April 20, 2022, in Oklahoma City. She was born May 10, 1952, in Okarche where she was a lifelong resident.

She graduated from Okarche High School in 1970 and was a member of Holy Trinity Church.  Sue worked in housekeeping and enjoyed attending her nieces and nephews sporting events.

Pat Mataya

Body

A memorial service for former Minco resident Pat Mataya will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hazel Dell Cemetery northwest of Minco.

Pat passed away Sept. 15, 2021, in Oklahoma City. She was born Oct. 18, 1942, in Madill. She and her husband, Phil owned and operated Pat and Phil’s Country Store and Cafe in Minco for nearly 20 years.

She is survived by her daughters, Kimbra McKinley and Shelly Butler; her son, Mark Mataya; stepson, Jerry Mataya and stepdaughter, Juliana Mataya; sister, Scheryl Kennard; and several grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Bobby Warren Hedrick

Body

Bobby Warren Hedrick of Blanchard entered heaven on April 17, 2022, at the age of 85. A true force of nature, he lived a full life before dying of heart failure.

Bob was a man of his word and he always kept his promises.

Bobby was born Jan. 8, 1937, in Oklahoma City. He graduated from El Reno High School and attended El Reno Junior College.

He was known to be adventurous during his teenage years - just ask his two brothers.

He served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Sperry in the Pacific Ocean during the Korean War.

Neal Power

Body

Neal Ernest Power was born Nov. 18, 1938, in Calumet.

He died April 4, 2022 in El Reno.

Mr. Power was the last surviving child of Glen and Corrine Power.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Albert, Donald, Leslie, Everett and Martin; and his sisters, Corrine and Glenis.

Neal is survived by several nieces and nephews.

A private service is pending.

Susana Myers Cagle

Body

Memorial services for Susana Myers Cagle of El Reno will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Faith Family Church.

Susana passed away March 29, 2022. She was born Sept. 18, 1954, in Zambales, Philippines.

She had earned a nurses aide degree from Canadian Valley Vo-Tech and had worked for many years at Parkview Hospital, then private duty for many families.

Susana was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard Myers and Tom Cagle; and sons, Christopher, Peter, Joshua and Paul Myers.

Vernon Garner

Funeral services for former El Reno resident Vernon H. Garner were held Tuesday in the Benson Memorial Chapel with Deacon Lloyd Menz officiating. Burial was at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Norman under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Vernon died April 15, 2022, at the Norman Veterans Center. He was born Dec. 29, 1942, in Reidsville, N.C. He was a truck driver, owning and operating his own rig. Vernon served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the American Legion.

Sunbeam Wallace

Funeral services for Sunbeam Kaulaity Wallace were held Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Geary, with burial in the Geary Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Turner Funeral Home.

Sunbeam passed away April 14, 2022, in Oklahoma City. She was born July 12, 1962, in Lawton. She graduated from Anadarko High School and attended Haskell Indian College.

Barry Edward YoungBird Hamilton

Body

Barry was born April 20, 1944, to Edward YoungBird Hamilton and Emma Belle Tah. He passed away Dec. 20, 2021.

Barry attended Chilaccco Indian School and Tonkawa Public Schools and served his country in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965 training with a Ranger Unit and later in life working as an Engineer Tech on the Stealth Bomber.

Timothy Engel

Body

Timothy L. Engel was born July 12, 1962, to Francis Marie and David Jack Engel. He graduated from PC North High School.

Tim worked at Lucky Star Casino in El Reno for many years. He was an All American and loved magic tricks, bowling, chicken fried steak and fireworks. He was a great storyteller and jokester who will be missed.

A gathering will be held to remember Tim on July 4 in El Reno with lots of fireworks.
