Steve Winkler

Steve Winkler, age 73, died March 6, 2023, after a short illness.

Steve managed, owned and operated S&J Tire in El Reno for over 40 years. People who came in to S&J looking for someone they could trust quickly became lifelong friends and clients, exchanging stories and trivia with Steve while their cars were made safe.

Steve, lovingly known as “B.S.” (Big Steve), was preceded in death by the love of his life, Karon; his mother, Kit, and his father, Bill.

Sonya Lamebull

Funeral services for Sonya Lee Lamebull of Oklahoma City were held Wednesday at Huber-Benson Funeral Home, with burial following at the Lumpmouth Family Cemetery in Geary.

Sonya passed away March 3, 2023. She was born Oct. 13, 1961, in Oklahoma City. She was a graduate of Del City High School and attended Haskell Indian Junior College, now known as Haskell Indian Nations University. Sonya held numerous jobs throughout her life.

She attended the Maranatha Baptist Church in Bethany.

Dwayne Oaks

Graveside services for Dwayne Charles Oaks of Minco were held Thursday at the Hazel Dell Cemetery, under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Dwayne passed away March 5, 2023, at his home. He was born March 15, 1937, in Cogar and was raised in the Cogar community.

He joined the Oklahoma Army National Guard and served in Korea. He worked as a truck driver in trucking and transport. He was a member of Hazel Dell Baptist Church.

Betty Jean Wahweah

El Reno resident Betty Jean Wahweah passed away Monday, March 6, 2023, at her home, at the age of 68.

Betty, the daughter of Jimmie and Nancy Mae (Deere) Carbitcher, was born Nov. 26, 1954, in Wewoka.

She graduated with the Bowlegs High School class of 1974, then continued her education at Bacone College.

On May 16, 1975, she married Gene Wahweah in Seminole. Betty and Gene moved to El Reno, where they established their home.

Betty was an avid fan of OU and the Kansas City Chiefs, she also enjoyed fishing and loved attending family activities.

Dasie Weisenburger

Dasie Hufnagel Weisenburger passed away peacefully March 4, 2023. Dasie was born Feb. 26, 1930, in Calumet to Russell and Alice (Gill) LeFever. She grew up in Calumet and attended Calumet High School where she played basketball and softball. Dasie graduated in 1948 as valedictorian of her class.

Later she took various college courses - those at OU were her favorite. An avid fan of OU football, Dasie attended the games in Norman for 46 years.

One of her favorite hobbies was bowling, where she spent years in leagues and traveled to numerous competitions.

Barbara Langley

Barbara Ann (Johns) Langley was born July 14, 1946, in Bethany, Mo., to Melvin and Nettie Jo Johns. She passed away peacefully March 6, 2023, surrounded by her family in Thomas, Okla.

Barbara graduated from El Reno High School in 1964. She married the love of her life, David Langley, on March 14, 1964, and together the two of them shared 57 wonderful years of marriage.

Kyle Wilson Toal

Kyle Wilson Toal, age 67, beloved husband, father, brother and friend, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023.

Kyle was born April 10, 1955, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Nelda and Thurman Toal. The family, which included Kyle’s twin sister, Lisa and older sister, Cindy, moved often, and growing up, Kyle attended nine different schools in Iowa, Illinois and Oklahoma. The frequent moves made the family stronger … surroundings would change but the family core was strong, adaptable and resilient.

Mary Charlene Barr

Graveside services for Mary Charlene Barr were held March 4 at Evergreen Cemetery in Minco under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Charlene passed away Feb. 27, 2023, in El Reno. She was born July 5, 1930, in McQueen. She was raised in Minco, graduating from Minco High School in 1948. Charlene had worked as head cook in the Minco School lunchroom and later for Woodworth’s Hardware and then the Grady County Treasurer’s Office.

She taught Sunday school for many years at Minco First Baptist Church.
