Students at El Reno High School take part in several charitable missions over the course of any given school year, but one of the most popular has been running locally longer than any other school in the nation.

The Gifts for the Yanks program turned 79 at El Reno, believed to be the only high school in the nation to continuously honor the program which started in World War II.

Community Christmas Dinner organizers need lending hand

The 41st Annual El Reno Community Christmas Dinner is coming together, but there are still some important ingredients needed, organizers said.

The dinner has been an El Reno staple now for more than four decades. It’s organized by the family of Dwight and Diane Kennedy with plenty of help from volunteers.

The Christmas Eve dinner will begin serving at the Family Life Center at Wesley Methodist Church, 100 S. Barker, at 11 a.m. Dec. 24.

Ross Makers Market draws local artisans

Ross Makers Market attracted a number of local artisans over the weekend as well as potential customers.

The event featured local folks who create everything from homebaked goods to ornate Christmas decorations and more.
