Students at Canadian Valley Technology Center in El Reno took part as volunteers at the Oklahoma City Zoo.

The students were part of the Skills USA American Spirit competition where competitors work together to develop, document and present a community service project.

Elinor “Ellie” Keyser LeDoux, 84, passed away peacefully on Dec. 11, 2024, in Oklahoma City.

She was born Feb. 28, 1940, in Oklahoma City to Inez and Ambrose Keyser. 

Ellie loved to garden, travel with friends, meet with former classmates and most of all, spend time with her family and sisters. She was an advocate for animals and had three pets over the years.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters and her favorite, the choir. Her faith and importance of family was her daily driving force for life. 

Displaying the teamwork which carried the program to its first-ever state title, El Reno High School’s girls basketball team doubled up its opponents on the scoreboard to defend its title at the Harrah Panthers Classic.

El Reno defeated rival Shawnee 45-34 in the championship game to move to 4-0 on the season.

The Indians reached the title game with victories over Star Spencer (64-14) and Bishop McGuinness (72-34).

Jennifer Douglas’ team has now won 32 straight games dating back to last season, with 27 of those falling in the regular season.
