From all accounts, the Holly Jolly Trolley looks like it could become El Reno’s next big downtown event.

Hosted by El Reno Main Street, the event is being called a “great success” and a true “Christmas experience” by organizers.

Heather Brothers, Main Street director, said several entities teamed up to make the Holly Jolly Trolley a great time for children and families.

Wreaths Across America program honors deceased vets buried at Fort Reno

At a somber ceremony at Fort Reno Cemetery on Dec. 15, visitors put Christmas wreaths next to the tombstones of deceased American veterans as part of a nationwide “Wreaths Across America” program hosted by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR).

Leslie Dietrich, Regent of Fort Reno’s chapter of NSDAR, said the group lays wreaths “to remember, honor and teach about those who served in the military and protected our freedoms.”

Ex-deputy sentenced to life without parole

Former sheriff’s deputy Vaughn R. Cannon was sentenced to life without parole for the August 2023 murder of his wife, Jordan Cannon at their eastern Canadian County home.

Vaughn Cannon, 42, previously entered a plea of guilty to the crime of first-degree murder for killing Jordan Cannon, 40.

He was sentenced at a Dec. 10 hearing in Canadian County District Court.
