El Reno High School Special Olympics took three of its athletes and some coaches and volunteers to watch Special Olympics North America Softball play at the Softball Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.

The group saw Special Olympics teams from New York, Kansas, Georgia and Pennsylvania.

Landon Zane Lerch, age 30, of El Reno, OK, passed away unexpectedly on September 17, 2025.

Landon was born on October 10, 1994, to Lane Lerch and Ann Wiggins. From an early age, it was clear he had a kind heart, a bright spirit, and a deep love for family and friends.

In 2021, Landon met the love of his life, Kaitlyn Pierce, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. Their greatest joy was becoming parents to their beloved son, Liam Lerch, who is the light of their lives.

Blessing Baskets breaks ground on pantry

El Reno Blessing Baskets broke ground this week on its new food pantry at 2725 Crossroads Blvd. in the Crossroads Pointe Development. The local nonprofit was awarded a $1.5 million Food Insecurity Grant from the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, funded through the American Rescue Plan Act.

The grant will be used to help build the new 6,500-square-foot building.
