Funeral services for Della Lorene Kirkegard-Smith of Minco will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26 at First Baptist Church of Minco.

Services are under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Della passed away Sept. 19, 2025. She was born Sept. 20, 1933, in Banner.

She graduated from Minco High School in 1951, received a bachelor of science degree from OBU in 1954 and a MA from Central State in 1980.

El Reno renames lake pavilion in honor of circuit rider minister

Last week, the City of El Reno dedicated and renamed the education pavilion at Lake El Reno for Rev. O.P. Light. 

Born April 7, 1828, Oliver Perry (“O.P.”) Light came to Oklahoma to stake a claim in the April 1889 land run.

He was the first Christian minister of any denomination to preach in El Reno.

Local community group looking for book lovers!

The Friends of the Library is a support group for the El Reno Carnegie Library and has been in operation for more than 40 years.

The group exists to advance and encourage appreciation, understanding, enjoyment and public use of the educational and cultural facilities at the library.

Terror trolley awaits

The El Reno Arts Council will host four nights of spooky fun at the fourth annual Haunted Trolley, happening Oct. 16, 17, 23 and 24.

This community favorite combines Halloween thrills with a unique celebration of the arts - all made possible through the energy and creativity of local volunteers, including many of El Reno’s youth.

Guests will board the Heritage Express Trolley at the Canadian County Museum and ride into historic downtown El Reno, where haunting surprises await.
