Defense, 3-point shooting help Redlands snap slide

Churning out a season-high block total and its third highest 3-point production, Redlands Community College men’s basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 73-64 win over Western Oklahoma.

Redlands improved to 8-11 on the season and drew closer to the top of the NJCAA Region 2 standings. The Cougars are currently eighth at 2-3 but a half game out of third place.

From behind the arc the Cougars logged 27 points off 41 percent (9-of-22) shooting.

A late-game shooting slump forced Redlands Community College women’s basketball team into the loss column for a third straight outing after dropping a 62-54 home bid to Western Oklahoma.

The eight-point setback dropped the Cougars to 15-4 on the season. Redlands remains in the fourth spot in the NJCAA Region 2 standings at 2-3.

Down by 10 points in the third period, Redlands rallied to within a point, 52-51, on a Myracle Washington free-throw line jumper with just over five minutes to play.
