Chapter AE of P.E.O. members gather for meeting over coffee

Members of Chapter AE of P.E.O. International gathered at a local coffee shop for their January meeting, with Christy Eichholz serving as hostess and Ann Zavy as co-hostess.

Other members attending were Margaret Price, Karen Pappas, Becky Reuter, Anna Rinehart, Lindsey Vise, Karen Rushing and Janan Fletcher.

After the social, Eichholz called the meeting to order. Pappas gave the treasurer’s report, while Vise read minutes from the December meeting.

Zavy read Mark 9:23 for the devotional.

John Glenwaine Davidson, 77, of El Reno, passed away Jan. 15, 2026. He was born May 1, 1948, in Alice, Texas, to Corine Fowler and Glen Davidson.

Glen graduated from Union City High School and was a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran. He worked as a grocery store manager at Bill’s IGA in Kingfisher, a local Rainbow bread distributor, and was co-owner of Dee’s Café and Produce off U.S. 81 in Union City.

He will be remembered as El Reno’s beloved watermelon and cantaloupe peddler.

Lamplighters OHCE talk projects for the new year

Lamplighters OHCE met recently at Mount Zion Global Methodist Church, with Carol Stine calling the meeting to order.

Donna Wehmuller read a devotional titled “Growing Pains.”

Reports from Maxine Little and Patricia Morrison were read and accepted.

Yearbooks were distributed and leader lessons were assigned.

Thank-you cards were read from Sheriff Chris West and Bethany Children’s Health Center for contributions made at Christmas.

Projects were discussed for this year with several under consideration.

Mitchum, Baker place in top five at Malcolm Wade Titans Classic

El Reno High School’s boys wrestling team pushed two grapplers into the top five at the recent 60th Annual Malcolm Wade Titans Classic.

Junior Nick Mitchum (285) took third place, followed by a fourth-place effort from senior Diesel Baker (138). El Reno took 13 grapplers to the event, finishing with a collective 17-25 record.

Mitchum posted a 6-1 record with five falls.

His fastest was in 32 seconds over Ada’s Gage Van Horn, while two pins were against Carl Albert’s Korbin Pendley – the last in 3:42 for the bronze.
