The City of El Reno has created a map for travel as a major winter storm is expected to hit the area over the weekend.

Roxie Ellen (Quigley) Brookman, age 80, of El Reno, passed away Jan. 16, 2026, at her home.  Roxie was born June 12, 1945, in Elkhart, Kan., to Merle and Elma Quigley.

Roxie completed her master’s degree in music education/administration from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. She taught music in the Oklahoma and Kansas school systems. She also taught private piano lessons in her home. 

El Reno High School December Students of the Month are, Layni Wright, Preston Ashford, Kyndall Couch, Easton Ray, Aspen Witherspoon, Gavin Grissom, Amy Puente and Codee Skaggs.

A memorial service for John W. Mahen of Yukon will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at First Christian Church of El Reno with Pastor Colton Lott officiating.

John passed away Jan. 19, 2026. He was born Aug. 28, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois.
