El Reno Wranglers hold meeting

Body The El Reno Wranglers held their monthly meeting and potluck supper recently at the 4-H building with 19 members attending. The group discussed the upcoming annual Wranglers Rodeo at the new fairgrounds set to take place Aug. 27, as well as a trail ride planned for June 12.

Walmart helps SSS program

Body The Students Striving for Success mentoring program operated by the El Reno Public Schools Foundation received a donation of $1,500 from the El Reno Community Walmart Foundation.

Local students earn degrees from UCO

Body The University of Central Oklahoma celebrated the achievements of approximately 1,302 graduates during spring 2021 commencement ceremonies May 7-8 at Central’s Wantland Stadium.

Lamplighters hold first meeting since October

Body Lamplighters Oklahoma Home and Community Education Association of Canadian County met recently at a local church fellowship center. This was the group’s first meeting since October. Everyone wore masks and followed CDC guidelines.

OHS speech to present one-act play

Body The Okarche High School Speech Team will present its production of “Kindertransport” on Sunday, May 2 at 2 p.m. in the OHS Black Box Theatre. The one-act drama will be Okarche’s entry in the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association’s one-act play contest.

Underwood HCE gathers at restaurant

Body The Underwood Oklahoma Home and Community Education Association of Canadian County met recently at a local restaurant. Natalia Valenzuela called the meeting to order, with Bernita Davis reading minutes of the last meeting. Ann Ricketts was elected to serve as the new treasurer.
