Kiwanis pancakes

El Reno Kiwanis Club held its annual Pancake Breakfast on April 15 at Wesley United Methodist Church.

The pancake breakfast was well-attended and funds raised will go toward funding several scholarships to graduating seniors of the El Reno High School class of 2023.

Academic Team holds quiz bowl as fundraiser

Body

El Reno High School Academic Team recently hosted an adult meet to raise money for its trip to national competition at the end of May in Atlanta.

So far, the team has raised $2,100 of the minimum $3,000 needed for the trip.

If you’d like to make a contribution, checks can be mailed to El Reno High School at P.O. Box 580, made out to ERPS Academic Team with “Donation” in the memo section.

Redlands Community College students took part in last weekend’s Keep El Reno Beautiful.

The RCC crew walked along South Country Club collecting litter as part of the effort.

The event was a partnership between the city of El Reno, Chamber of Commerce, RCC and volunteers.

Birth - Augustus Arden Sims

Body

BOY — Alexandra and Taylor Sims of Yukon announce the birth of their son, Augustus Arden Sims, born April 3 at Yukon Integris Canadian Valley Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces and measured 19 inches in length.

Augustus has three siblings, Reagan, 6, Beau, 2, and Stetson, 1.

Maternal grandparents are Chris and Terri Denny of El Reno and Tim and Kim Dykens of Tulsa.

Maternal greatgrandparents are Diane Dykens of Altus and the late Arden Dykens.

Honor Society

Riverside, Maple and Darlington schools held a banquet recently in the Maple gymnasium inducting new members of the Canadian County Rural Elementary Schools Honor Society.

Students must maintain a 3.75 or higher GPA in their courses for the entire year for inclusion.
