What was slated as a road game to open up the 2023 fall season turned into an 8-0 home win for Union City High School’s baseball team over Wellston. The game was shifted back to Cecil Simmons Field after morning rains made Wellston’s field unplayable.

Several players with local ties were selected to play in the 2023 USSSA Oklahoma All-State Softball Games. The event was played at the Firelake Softball Complex in Shawnee. Presley Bilderback represented the West Yellow 14-and-under team which took runner-up honors.
