Body

It’s time to shine, El Reno.

For the second year in a row, First Baptist Church and El Reno Public Schools will be hosting the Night to Shine prom event, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation. The popular football star philanthropist started the program in 2015 as a way to bring joy to special needs children.

Night to Shine is a full-blown prom, complete with tiaras, a dance floor, prom clothes and more. It is currently being celebrated by 655 churches in 50 states and 24 countries with 100,000 honored guests.

Robert's Grill reopens to customers

Body

El Reno’s Robert’s Grill is open for business. Owner Ed Graham said the fried onion burger fixture at Wade and Bickford has been cleared to operate. Customers
began returning for breakfast, lunch and dinner this past week.

The city of El Reno, along with the county health department, ordered the restaurant closed in late November, citing concerns related to fire, electrical and structural areas of the building, including roof issues.

Crews could be seen working on the building shortly after the notice to close was issued.

GoFundMe effort set up to help those families hit by energy cuts

Body

Santa and Mrs. Claus, also known as Larry and Nancy Salsman, have been helping the community of El Reno for more than 25 years. They’ve made appearances at children’s events, parades, nursing homes, wherever they can help spread a little Christmas joy.

Now they’ve turned their attention to help those recently laid off in the Halliburton cutbacks.

The couple will no longer be making “special” appearances, but they are still working to help the community.
