A date which will live in infamy

Body

The single largest infrastructure project in El Reno history came to a sudden halt on Dec. 7, 1941.

That was the day the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.

It was also the day construction ended, or was at least interrupted, on what would become known as the Rock Island overpass.

Crews have begun building an alternate route around the more than 70-year-old structure that is scheduled to be torn down and replaced with a modern boulevard.
