Jeffrey and Melinda Reuter Farms LLC vs. Raw Crude Oil and Gas LLC for alleged damages in an amount to be determined at trial.

Ruby Jane Lenhart and Tiffany Sue Breshears vs. Eric Duane Rogers for an amount in excess of $75,000 for injuries and damages alleged to have occurred during an automobile accident.

Two years ago, Donna Dyer said she received a phone call from then Mayor Matt White.

“He said, ‘Donna, there are COVID relief funds available soon, collect information for a grant application telling how COVID has affected Blessing Baskets,’” Dyer said, recalling the conversation.

Dyer said she and Blessing Baskets treasurer Debbie Denwalt met with White and City Manager Matt Sandidge.

The meeting resulted in a “great blessing” for the El Reno charitable organization.

The year 2022 arrived, just as many expected. Some of the stories that were reported during the first few months of the new year might be considered routine. Meetings, announcements, etc.

With construction complete on Phase 1 of the Canadian County Expo and Event Center, county commissioners approved a plan to refinance some $13.25 million in debt – at a lower interest rate.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Lonnie Paxton will continue to serve in his leadership position as Assistant Majority Floor Leader for the 59th Legislature, along with some new committee assignments.

Senate Pro Tempore Greg Treat appointed the Tuttle Republican to serve as chair of the Energy and Telecommunications Committee and vice chair of the Rules Committee.

“I’m honored to once again have the opportunity to serve as Assistant Floor Leader and help guide our caucus and the business of the Senate,” Paxton said.

High school students are performing authentic research under the mentorship of scientists and historians in a Canadian County agricultural setting close to home.

The BlueSTEM AgriLearning Center, 3232 N. Jesse Reno Street, is housed at Historic Fort Reno. The program is a collaborative effort between U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Grazinglands Research Laboratory and Historic Fort Reno.

“Everything that we do here is hands-on,” said Ann Marshall, BlueSTEM director and education coordinator. “We don’t have textbooks.

Before the Christmas break, El Reno High School students in Erin Leiting and Celia Caro’s class conducted a STEM project organized by paraprofessional Theresa Barton.

Students made parachutes out of coffee filters, fishing line and cups.

The parachutes were weighted by coins and cutouts of Santa Claus and dropped from a balcony to a target on the floor.

Inmates being booked into the Canadian County Jail may want to think twice about trying to sneak contraband into the building.

That’s due in large part to a full-body scanner now operational in the receiving area at the county lock-up.

“It’s a great tool – a great deterrent,” Detention Capt. Austin Moore said. “It’s going to help us keep the contraband down in this jail.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Nathan Dahm, R-Broken Arrow, filed legislation last week to end the “unnecessary and potentially harmful” practice of setting clocks forward and back every year.

“As we pass through the shortest day of the year, let’s not forget the feds steal an hour from us each year with their daylight saving Ponzi scheme only to give it back later,” Dahm said.

“It’s time we end this archaic practice in our state.”
