Like the hundreds of onlookers lining the cooking arena fence at the 37th Annual Burger Day Festival, I was eagerly awaiting the world’s largest onion fried burger to come off the grill.
Unfortunately, it was not to open my mouth for a bite but rather pull out my foot and start counting the number of slices the 850-pound Big Burger can produce.

Polo is coming back to Fort Reno.
The U.S. Cavalry Association Museum will host a polo game on Saturday, Sept. 27. The event will serve as a fundraiser for the museum.
Kelly Coldiron, who is working to help coordinate the event, said the polo match will bring players from Oklahoma, Georgia and Texas.
Coldiron said polo once was a regular activity at the fort during its heyday when Fort Reno served as a military remount station.
El Reno residents are reminded that the annual Letter Carriers Food Drive will be Saturday, May 10.
Those wishing to help feed the community are asked to put non-perishable food items in bags and have them near their mailbox before 9 a.m. that day.
The donated food will go to The Lord’s Harvest, a local food ministry that helps to serve those in need.
Project Transformation, an eight-week reading camp for elementary students, lost substantial federal funding without any warning.
On April 28, leaders of Wesley United Methodist Church learned that Project Transformation was one of 868 AmeriCorps programs whose grant was cut by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

The event was held at Jenks Simmons Field House Annex.
Students were treated to a red carpet walk into the venue.
Redlands Community College is hosting its first-ever esports summer camp, a six-day competitive gaming experience centered around the popular game Marvel Rivals.
The residential camp will run from July 13-18 offering young gamers a unique opportunity to develop their skills while building lasting friendships in a supportive environment.
