Right-hander Aiden Williams completed the month of March with a 5-0 record after handcuffing Weatherford’s junior varsity to a pair of hits in an 8-3 win over the Eagles in the Union City Wood Bat Tournament.

The junior posted a five-inning line of 12 strikeouts, four walks, three runs and two hits. For the month he logged a 1.22 earned run average with 54 strikeouts over 22 1/3 innings. 

Union City, ranked 10th in Class A-II, finished the event with a 2-1 record, losing 5-1 to Elk City’s JV in the finals. The Tigers moved to 12-3 overall.

Struggling through a losing streak, Redlands Community College’s baseball team dropped a four-game set to Northern Oklahoma College of Tonkawa to fall into last place in the NJCAA Region 2, Division 2 standings.

The Mavericks, ranked 20th in the nation, beat Redlands 13-9/6-3/16-3 and 14-4. The Cougars, losers of six straight, are 20-16 overall and 1-7 in the league standings.

Redlands went 33-of-118 (.280) from the plate over the four games with seven extra base hits.

Easton Andrews hit a pair of doubles, while Brand Wilson and Alex Everett posted a double each.

Nine strokes kept Redlands Community College women’s golf team out of the top 10 at the 2025 Hardscrabble Invitational held in Fort Smith, Ark.

The Cougars posted a 54-hole total of 964 (320/319/325) to place 12th in the 17-team field. Redlands was six shots back of the University of Central Oklahoma (958) for 11th place.

Two teams were in a tie for ninth at 955.

Daniela Espinoza led Redlands with a 230 tally (77/77/76) to tie for 20th in the individual medalist chase. Sophia Blake’s 234 (81/76/77) placed her in 24th.

El Reno High School’s tennis teams took part in the 2025 Suburban Conference Championships last week in Shawnee, with both teams finishing in the top five.

The boys were third overall with 11 points, finishing behind Shawnee (22) and Guthrie (14).

Jim Rinehart led the effort at No.1 singles, taking third after a 6-1/7-6 win over Del City’s Tristen Williams. Rinehart went 2-1 with a 6-0/6-4 win over DCHS’ Nathaniel Green and a 6-0/6-4 semifinal loss to Shawnee’s Hagan Wells.

With El Reno being the last team standing at the end of the Class 5A State Championships left a lasting impression on the voting panels for two postseason awards lists.

Seniors Lilly Thomas and Emmary Elizondo, following tryouts, were named to the 2025 Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association’s All-State West Team.

The OGCBA Large School Game will be played May 31 in Mustang.

Thomas was the team’s second leading scorer with 360 points and averaged 12.4 points per game. She added a team-high 177 rebounds along with 89 assists, 47 blocked shots and 36 steals.

Rebounding from an overtime loss in the quarterfinals, El Reno High School’s boys soccer team posted back-to-back shutouts to capture the consolation title at the 2025 COPA El Reno Invitational.

The Indians moved to 3-3 on the season with a 2-0 win over Chickasha in the consolation championship, closing the three-match COPA event with a 2-1 record.

Lawton netted its first four penalty kicks in overtime to edge past El Reno High School’s girls soccer team 3-2 in the third-place match at the 2025 COPA El Reno Invitational.

El Reno slipped to 2-4 on the season with a 1-2 mark in the event, losing to Yukon’s freshman team (2-1) in the semifinals and defeating Crooked Oak (4-0) in the quarterfinals.

El Reno High School’s baseball team faced a stacked deck in the 2025 Chickasha Festival, splitting the three-game set with a 12-6 win over rival Shawnee.

The six-run win over the Wolves was wrapped by a 17-1 loss to defending Class 4A state champ Marlow and a close 11-10 setback to state-ranked Newcastle.

El Reno emerged from the event with an 8-2-2 season record.

El Reno High School’s tennis teams kicked off the 2025 season with a dual split against Harding Charter Prep at the Legion Park courts.

The boys squad was swept 5-0 by Harding as Jim Rinehart fell 6-0/6-0 to Andres Markey at No.1 singles.

Devlon Gaylon dropped his No.2 singles match to Brody Kirkpatrick 6-4/6-2.

El Reno’s Jacob Richey and Jonathan Albrecht fell in their doubles match 6-0/6-2 before Richey teamed with Jameson Tripp in a straight sets loss to Markey and Kirkpatrick.

Aydan Steffler and Nova Underwood lost 6-0/6-1 to Harding’s Ramos and Espinoza.

El Reno High School head girls coach Jennifer Douglas, shown here in the recent state tourney, was named the District 5A-1 Coach of the Year for a second straight season.
