Obituaries

Garland Brooks went to his eternal rest on Feb. 28, 2020. He was born Dec. 3, 1926, near Calumet to Allean Beverly Barker and Charles Frank Brooks and lived his entire life in Canadian County.

William E. “Bill” Hutson left us on Feb. 28, 2020, to watch over us from his new heavenly home. He was loved by all who were privileged to know him. A man of gentle strength and loving kindness, he served his Lord and Savior faithfully.

Funeral services for former El Reno resident Margaret Ann Newnum will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Benson Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Stuart Malloy officiating. Burial will follow in the El Reno Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Hermon Leo Mitchell of Minco will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Minco, with burial to follow in the Union City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Trey Schiffman were held Friday in the Benson Memorial Chapel with Pastors Josh White and Curtis Ivey officiating.  Trey passed away Feb. 23, 2020, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born April 6, 1984, in Weatherford, Texas.

Betty Modena Hutton, 88, passed away Feb. 26, 2020, in Oklahoma City. Private services will be held at a later date. 

Funeral services for Myrna Ruth Black of El Reno were held Thursday at the Concho Community Hall with burial following in the Concho Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home. Myrna passed away Feb. 16, 2020, at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Funeral services for Anita Renee Hunt of El Reno will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Benson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Cory Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Okarche under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Lillian Ferne Young Burris of El Reno will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment in the El Reno Cemetery. Viewing will be held Thursday, Feb. 20 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home.

Verna Thompson of San Antonio passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020. She was born in San Antonio on Oct. 15, 1941. Verna is survived by her daughter, Stephanie, who with her husband, Scott, gave Verna her grandson, Bennett, and by her son, Andrew.
