Sharon Griffin, 78, passed away Feb. 12, 2021. She was born in Pratt, Kan., to George Henry and Anna Marie DeVaney Seely. Sharon is one of six children, Georgia Ann Seely, Thad Seely, Stanley Joe Seely, Martha Marie Bass and Christie Jane Hubbard.
She was married to the love of her life, her husband, Jim Griffin, for 46 years.
Sharon had three children, Sherri Ann Arens, Judith Lea Reaves and James Terry Griffin.
Denise K. Meyer, 62, said goodbye to her earthly family and joined the heavenly chorus in the presence of her Savior on Feb. 12, 2021, in Salina, Kan.
Betty Jean Taylor of El Reno passed away Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, in Oklahoma City. She was born in El Reno on Dec. 24, 1949.
She grew up in Union City and attended Union City schools. She had been a resident of El Reno for numerous years.
Betty graduated from Canadian Valley Vo-Tech LPN School in 1970. She loved to work with the elderly and worked in nursing homes during the course of her career. She was a huge animal lover and raised exotic animals with her husband and life partner, Kenneth Taylor of El Reno.
Memorial service for former El Reno resident Ada Foster Fisher will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Huber-Benson Funeral Home with Rev. Dick Kurtz officiating.
Ada passed away Feb. 16, 2021, at her home in Shawnee. She was born Nov. 29, 1930, in Piedmont and moved to El Reno in 1975. She was an administrative secretary at Park View Hospital and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Ada is survived by her daughter, Tammy Powers of Shawnee; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Carrie G. (McAfee) Sinyard was born April 3, 1931, in Shawnee, Okla., to Thomas Joel McAfee and Viola Orr, and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 13, 2021, in Oklahoma City.
Carrie moved to El Reno in 1942 and graduated from El Reno High School in 1949. She loved her home where she lived for 56 years. As her health became where she was unable to live at home, she moved to St. Katharine Drexel Retirement. She enjoyed her time there and made many new friends, she will be missed at St. Katharine.
Martin Conrad Peters Sr., born Nov. 10, 1938, went to be with Jesus on Feb. 15, 2021. He passed peacefully in his home with his wife of 60 years, Lanoy Ann Peters by his side.
Martin was born on his family farm in Okarche as the fifth of five children. He was baptized Nov. 27, 1938, at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Okarche.
On Jan. 27, 1961, Martin was married to Lanoy Ann Bolin at Bible Baptist Church in El Reno by Pastor Jerry Ervin. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year.
Funeral services for Peggy Nina Smith will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021, at Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home Chapel in Carnegie with Deacon Mike Lawson officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, Feb. 18 from 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home.
Peggy was born Nov. 19, 1944, to Arthur and Della Madden of the Pecan Community south of Mountain View. She went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 5, 2021, at her home in El Reno.
Memorial services for Syble Ernesteen Crawford Penwright of Okarche will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021, at Crossbridge Church in El Reno with Pastor Mark Fryar officiating. Family only burial will follow in the Calumet Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Absolute Funeral Home in Oklahoma City.
Syble passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2021, in El Reno with her family by her side. She was born April 13, 1936, in Calumet to her parents, Coy and Georgia (Duncan) Crawford.
Shelby Davis, 66, of Sparks, NV, formerly of El Reno, passed away February 4, 2021, on her grandmother’s birthday, in Reno, NV.
She was born in El Reno, January 20, 1955, to parents, Allen and Dolores Davis, both deceased.
She is survived by daughter, Carolynn Davis of Reno, NV, brother, Mark Davis of Bakersfield, CA, and sister, Cathy Rey and husband, Robert of Fresno, CA.
Local relatives are an aunt, Lue Ann Sanderson, and cousin, Ronda Moss and family of El Reno.
Wake service for Esther Yolanda Redbird Postoak will be held Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Del City Church of the Nazarene.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church with Revs. Leon Postoak and Frank Moppin officiating. Burial will be in the Concho Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
Esther died Feb. 6, 2021, at Cornerstone Specialty Hospital in Shawnee.
