Cora Mae Spurlin was born Oct. 23, 1930, to Walter and Sarah Rowe in Leavenworth, Kan., but she would later find the love of her life and make her permanent home in El Reno. While her birth certificate read Cora Mae, friends and family, and fans of her artwork, knew her as “Corky.”

Jeanine Elizabeth Massey was born July 5, 1944, at Goodland, Kan. Her father’s employment with the Rock Island Railroad brought the family to El Reno. Jeanine graduated from El Reno High School. For many years she provided day care for children in her home and later cared for the home-bound.

Services for Charles Thomas Johnson III will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, at Pentecostal Church of God, 1108 E. Rogers. Viewing will be held at New Providence Baptist Church, 401 N. Admire, on Friday, Nov. 5 from noon to 6 p.m.  Charles was born June 30, 1962, in Las Vegas, Nev.

Shawn James Scott, 42, of Banner, left this world to be with his Savior on Oct. 27, 2021. He was born July 6, 1979, in Thomas to Tom and Diana Scott. Funeral services were held Monday at Life.Church in Yukon with Dr. Jeff Hill officiating.

Mass of Christian Burial for Ronald Irwin Wiewel will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by military honors. Ron died Oct. 25, 2021, at Integris Canadian Valley Hospital in Yukon. He was born April 2, 1944, the second child of Jack and Marie Wiewel.

Martha Ann Higdon, age 73, passed away Oct. 23, 2021, at Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City. She was born in Okarche on June 8, 1948, the daughter of Lawrence and Petranella Higdon. Martha attended Sacred Heart Catholic School. She adored and cherished her family deeply.

Miles Leon Boling, 68, of Spiro, passed away Oct. 21, 2021, in Spiro. He was born July 24, 1953, in Poteau. Miles enjoyed playing music and singing.

Funeral services for Hattie Faye Mauldin will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, at First Baptist Church of El Reno, under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home. Faye passed from this life on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021, at the age of 90 years young and is no doubt dancing with Jesus.

Linda Bannister Simmons journeyed from this life on Oct. 20, 2021, after living a long and textured life. She was born to Rosemary and Ray Bannister of El Reno. Linda passed quietly away in her home with her long-devoted husband by her side and her three children nearby as well.

Our beloved mother, Joyce Bahran Richey, passed away Oct. 17, 2021. Joyce was born and spent most of her life in El Reno. She raised her children with love and devotion in El Reno alongside her husband of 51 years, Marvin C. Richey Sr. She was a proud mother to Marvin Jr. and Jason Richey.
