Funeral services for Linda Louise Bassham of Minco were held Friday at the Assembly of God Church, with burial following in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha. Services were under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Body

A wake for Amber Kay Williams will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, with funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday, both in the Benson Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at the Concho Cemetery.

Amber died Aug. 17, 2021, at Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City. She was born Dec. 6, 1992, in El Reno. She was raised in El Reno and Clinton, graduating from Clinton High School. She was a homemaker, volunteer for the RESPECT Program and participated in the Sand Creek Massacre Run.

Services for former El Reno resident Shirley Bounds are pending with Huber-Benson Funeral Home. Shirley died Aug. 15, 2021, in Yukon.

William Lippoldt

A celebration of life ceremony for William Eugene “Bill” Lippoldt of Piedmont will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14 at El Reno First Baptist Church.

Bill passed away Aug. 6, 2021, at age 69 after living a life filled with love, laughter and some ornery behavior too. He was born Jan. 21, 1952, in Okarche to his parents, Ray and Alice (MacFarland) Lippoldt.

Known by many as Bill and as Billy by a select few, his outsized personality was grounded only by the care and devotion he showed others.

Robert Gawhega

Robert John Gawhega died Aug. 8, 2021, at Alliance Health in Ponca City. He was born Jan. 14, 1952, in Lawton.

He was a former resident of El Reno and a member of the Methodist church.   

He is survived by his wife, Sidonna Jeans of the home in Ponca City; children, Sonja Rife and Robin Benavides, both of Columbus, Ohio, Michael Gawhega of Los Angeles, Calif., and Shauna Barnett of Ponca City; siblings, Darlene Stevens of Green Bay, Wis., and Sandra Snelling and Arlin Lightfoot of Red Rock; and seven grandchildren.

Harold Edward Kessler

Harold Edward Kessler was born March 31, 1931, to Admiral Dewey and Jessie Kessler in El Reno. He passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 6, 2021, surrounded by his family.

Harold attended El Reno High School, graduating in 1949. He was quite the athlete, lettering in football, baseball and basketball, helping the Indians win a state basketball championship in 1949, his senior year.

After high school, Harold joined the Navy, serving four years in San Diego, Calif., and throughout several areas of the Mediterranean.

Funeral services for Bertha “Bertie” Irene Miller will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Benson Memorial Chapel.

Burial will follow in the El Reno Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Bertie died Aug. 6, 2021, at Corn Heritage Village in Weatherford. She was born Oct. 13, 1927, in La Feria, Texas. A former resident of El Reno, she was a homemaker and member of the Methodist Church.

Colsen Matthew Girty

Colsen Matthew Girty, age 10, of Healdton, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 31, 2021, in Fox, Okla.

Colsen was born in El Reno on March 7, 2011, the son of Jeremy Girty and Whitney Sides.

Colsen was a lively, talkative and outgoing young man. He was known by his family and friends to be smart, funny and a budding philosopher and rock-hound.

Colsen was very compassionate and had heart and aspiration for helping others in need.

Carol Jean Hunt

Funeral services for Carol Jean Hunt of El Reno were held Thursday, Aug. 5 at First Baptist Church.

Carol Jean passed away July 31, 2021, to be in heaven with her Lord and Savior. She was born Jan. 6, 1934, to Edward and Lydia VonTungeln of El Reno.

After graduating from El Reno High School in 1951, she attended Oklahoma Baptist University for one year before going to work at the Agricultural Office at the Oklahoma Capitol in downtown Oklahoma City.
