Canadian County owners receive Centennial Farm Award

OKLAHOMA CITY — Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer Lynda Ozan announced that an Oklahoma Centennial Farm Award has been presented to the owners of a Canadian County farm.

Frank and Janice Hurst own the Hurst-Patch Farm located in the vicinity of El Reno. The family has grown wheat and hay and raised cattle on the land since great-uncle Charles R. Patch settled the land in 1891.

FCCLA captures district honors

Okarche FCCLA participated in district competition recently at Enid High School. Chesney Black won third place in Job Interview, while Belle Beam took first place in Cake Decorating and Addison Mingus won first place in Children’s Literature.

All three will advance on to regional competition.

Julia Rayburn, Sandra Woodland and Taylor Horn participated in a team event called Recycle and Redesign, bringing home second-place awards.

Canadian Valley Technology Center will host FCCLA regionals Jan. 30.
