Roy Dean Chisum was born in Hydro, Oklahoma, on March 2, 1936, to Leonard and Floy (Seal) Chisum. He passed at the age of 89 in Yukon, Oklahoma, on March 26, 2025.  

He attended Ghost Mound School and later graduated from Hydro High School in 1953. After graduation he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1957.

In 1958, he married Kathy Garrison at First Baptist Church in Hinton.

UNION CITY – Union City High School’s slow-pitch softball team got a solo home run from Kamryn Cook in the sixth inning but struggled for additional more big hits in key situations.

The Tigers dropped an 8-4 decision to Fort Cobb-Broxton, ranked No.8 in Class A, leaving 10 base runners stranded in the four-run loss. Seven of those runners were in scoring position.

The loss was the third in a row for the Tigers, who slipped to 4-9 on the spring.

Union City had 13 hits in the game but left the bases loaded in the third and sixth innings.

In what could be a preview of a fourth straight Class B championship game matchup, Calumet High School’s baseball team dropped an 11-3 decision to top-ranked Fort Cobb-Broxton. Calumet, ranked second in the same Class B poll, slipped to 2-2-1 on the spring.

The Chieftains had six base hits in the loss including a solo home run from Konnor Thiessen and a double by Carson Cooper.

Kaleb Thiessen and Cooper led all CHS batters with two base hits each, followed by a single from Kingston Arnold.

Services for Debbie Lynn Long will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 28 in the Benson Memorial Chapel with Richard Hileman officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Weleetka with Rev. Roy Rogers officiating. Services are under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
