Calumet handed first RDL loss

BETHANY – Calumet High School’s baseball team scored eight runs over the sixth through eighth innings to tie Bethany before falling 12-9 to the Bronchos in a nine-inning summer league contest.

The loss was the first of the season for Calumet, which slipped to 2-1-2 on the summer. The setback dropped the Chieftains to 2-1-1 in the Varsity Division of the Red Dirt League.

Calumet trailed 6-1 through five innings, getting an opposite field solo home run from Wyatt Cox in the second inning.

Youth soccer camp invades stadium

More than 30 youth soccer players from the area took part in a skills camp at Memorial Stadium.

The three-day camp was hosted by El Reno High School soccer coaches Anthony Klipp and Joe Patton.

Individual skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting were taught as well as team concepts. Games were played that tested those skills.

Catch the rainbow

Campers run and slide through a wall of water and a rainbow to end a free three-day youth football skills camp conducted by El Reno High School’s football program, the EHS Quarterback Club and local youth football organizers at Memorial Stadium recently.

The water was shot from a cannon on one of the platform trucks used by the El Reno Fire Department and the rainbow was formed by the sun shining through the wall of water.

El Reno High School’s volleyball program held a youth skills camp recently at Jenks Simmons Field House.

Fifty-six campers were broken down into two sessions by age and skill levels.
