Jerald Gene Bollinger, 87, of Chanute, Kansas, whose life was deeply rooted in the land he loved, passed away on April 12, 2026, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center. He was born on June 5, 1938, in Union City, Oklahoma, to Clarence and Allene (Hale) Bollinger.

Jerald Bollinger, a lifelong rancher, farmer and entrepreneur, passed away surrounded by those who knew and respected his strong work ethic and love for life.

ER drops 5A-1 set to Bluejays

Though playing to a one-run game after three innings and logging 12 base hits, El Reno High School’s baseball team was outscored 11-1 over the final four innings of a 17-6 to the Guthrie Bluejays.

The 11-run loss at the Hub Reed Complex, coupled with a 17-1 road setback to the Bluejays, left El Reno with an 11-15 record for the spring and a 5-8 mark in the District 5A-1 standings.

Though it has a home makeup game with Noble April 29, El Reno will finish fifth in the standings and will be on the road for the playoffs.

Trimming 29 strokes from its first crack at Duncan’s Golf and Tennis Club Course, El Reno High School’s girls golf team earned its way back to state for a fourth straight year.

Playing in the Class 5A Regional, one of two in the state, El Reno shot a 380 tally to take fifth place out of 11 teams entered. The top six squads advance to the Class 5A Oklahoma Girls State Golf Championships, being held at Shangri-La Resort on May 4-5.
