The phone number for the benefit dinner supporting the Minco High School softball team was incorrect in the last issue of the Tribune. The correct number to text to order a sloppy Joe dinner is 405-641-4284. Those who call are asked to leave a voice mail.

The benefit will be at the El Reno Elks Lodge, 415 S. Rock Island.

Nancy Salsman said the benefit will be from 5 to 7 p.m. For $10, supporters will receive a dinner of sloppy Joes, chips and dessert. All proceeds will go to the players and coaches who were involved in the Sept. 8 bus crash.

After more than two decades, Dara Franklin is stepping down as chairwoman of the Oklahoma Indian Nation (OIN) Powwow. Supporters of the colorful event say she is leaving behind a legacy rooted in unity, tradition and community growth.

Held annually in Concho, the OIN Powwow began in 1990 and was founded by James “Jimmy” Hawk.

Franklin’s first memory of her involvement with OIN was when Hawk asked her to help assist his wife, Pat Hawk and Teresa White, Bobby Simpson and Marie Whitebird with the powwow in 1997.

An El Reno man is listed in critical condition at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City after the scooter he was driving collided with a vehicle driven by a 15-year-old girl, police said.

Police Chief Ken Brown said the accident happened Friday at 11:22 p.m. near Lake El Reno. Landon Lerch, 30, was reportedly driving the scooter when the collision occurred. The chief said it appears the scooter was not equipped with lights.

Brown said police could not release the name of the El Reno teen driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision.
