More than 800 people are expected to lose their jobs as Halliburton announces it will close its El Reno operation.

The announcement came Monday morning, the same day the layoffs were planned. At least three El Reno police vehicles were stationed at the Halliburton campus at 6100 East SH 66.

The layoffs were expected to be permanent.

El Reno Mayor Matt White said he was notified Monday morning by Bill Hancock, the coordinator of Oklahoma’s Workforce Services and State Rapid Response Team, about the closing and layoffs.

A notice of condemnation said no one could be at the property between 5 p.m. and 8 a.m. until the condemnation has been removed. For all other times, people can only be at the property for maintenance or to retrieve personal items.
