A route to the future

The city of El Reno wants your opinion.

The first month of 2020 will feature several open house meetings for local citizens. These meetings are for the Route to the Future project, a long-term planning exercise focusing on the development and growth of El Reno for the next 20 years.

According to City Planner Dustin Downey, projections show El Reno will grow by more than 9,000 residents by 2040.

Funeral services for Gary Joe Kubala will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow in the El Reno Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Monday, Jan. 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and a reception will be held at 12 p.m. Jan. 7 at the funeral home.

Lorena McCray

Funeral services for Lorena McCray of El Reno were held Friday, Jan. 3 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Dick Kurtz officiating. Burial was in the Canadian Valley Cemetery (McCray Cemetery) northeast of Calumet. Services were under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Lorena died Jan. 1, 2020, at Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City. She was born Jan. 16, 1935, in El Reno to John Edmond Sr. and Edna (Burton) Bowers. She was raised in El Reno, graduating from El Reno High School, and worked for Canadian County in the court clerk’s office.
