Services for Donnie Lee White were held Friday at First Baptist Church in Calumet with Pastor David Hardin officiating. Burial was in the Calumet Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Donnie died Oct. 5, 2020, at his home in Calumet. He was born July 19, 1950, in El Reno, the son of Lloyd and Lucille (Nail) White. A lifetime resident of Canadian County, he worked in various industries during his life including Bi-Products and construction. His hobbies were working on hot rods and hunting.

Timothy Scott Johnson, 49, of El Reno, was carried to heaven on Oct. 2, 2020.

He was born in Oklahoma City on June 9, 1971.

He is survived by his father, Jerry Johnson of Yukon and his mother, Sandra Coker-Bynum of Norman.

Tim graduated from El Reno High School in 1989 and in 1998 married Brandi Bramlett. They were blessed by two daughters, Taryn and Payten. He worked at Gemini Lacquers and Culligan in El Reno.

Hurt goose finds friend in fireman

El Reno police say recent reports of animal cruelty on social media are cases that have been investigated, although an incident in which geese were attacked at Lake El Reno is still being looked into.

Assistant Police Chief Kirk Dickerson said a goose that had been shot with a dart was captured and has been helped.

“Deputy Fire Chief J. Strahorn was able to capture the animal Thursday morning,” Dickerson said. “The dart was removed and the fowl was released.”

Local charity helps 300 families with summer food drive, more coming

More than 300 families were helped as part of the Families with Children Summer Food Program and organizers said the effort will continue into October.

Donna Dyer, coordinator for El Reno Blessing Baskets, said a fall break food distribution is planned for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 13 at the El Reno Learning Center, 300 S. Keith.

The effort is to help support families while children are at home during fall break.

Dyer said all families that participated in the Summer Food Program are invited to take part in the distribution.
