Fred Horn, center, holds up the American flag at the corner of Country Club Road and Elm Street. Diane Birdsong and an unidentified war veteran hold smaller flags. The Blue Line American Flag is also displayed as a show of support for law enforcement.

Horn is retired from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The three were showing support for the United States through an effort called Stand Up for America. Birdsong said it’s a non-political movement and Horn said they stand at different corners during the week along Country Club Road.

Alcohol sales on Sunday petition filed

Supporters plan to circulate a petition asking Canadian County commissioners to call an election so voters can decide whether to allow Sunday sales of alcohol by the drink at county restaurants and bars, and Sunday sales of alcoholic beverages by retail stores.
