Several hundred people turned out for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the new Canadian County Expo and Event Center.

The Expo Center actually opened July 1, but the ribbon-cutting was scheduled for the week of the 67th Annual Canadian County Free Fair. El Reno, Yukon, Mustang and Piedmont Chambers of Commerce hosted the ribbon-cutting. They were joined by FFA students and elected representatives from throughout the county, as well as Fair Board members.

Amy should know, she was a victim of domestic abuse at the hands of a boyfriend. With support from her family, she was able to leave and found help for herself and her child at Canadian County’s new Family Justice Center.

About 200 people turned out on a sunny and breezy Friday morning to officially celebrate the opening of Cardinal Point.

The 67th annual county fair opened Monday and runs through Saturday at the new Canadian County Expo and Event Center, 3001 Jensen Road East. The fair has moved from its former home on North Country Club Road, where it had been held since 1955.

Flight plans focus on El Reno Airport

When the El Reno Regional Airport held its inaugural Community Day and Fly-In a year ago, the turnout of more than 2,000 people caught many by surprise.

Airport Manager Adam Fox said to expect an even larger turnout for this year’s event set for Sept. 25.

Fox said a month before the Second Annual Community Day and Fly-In, there are already pilots from multiple surrounding states signed up to take part. Last year, more than 80 aircraft flew in for the daylong celebration of aviation.
