Turnovers prove costly for EHS girls in final District 5A-2 outing

MIDWEST CITY – Twenty turnovers by El Reno High School's girls basketball team resulted in 29 points for Carl Albert as the Titans completed a sweep of EHS with a 68-38 win.

El Reno wrapped up District 5A-2 play with a 10-4 record, which left the Indians in the third spot and on the road for the postseason. Jennifer Douglas' team slipped to 13-9 overall.

Despite 11 turnovers in the first half, El Reno stayed with a 3-pointer by Juliana Thomas (14-10) and treys by Jaida Richardson and Halli Ferguson late in the second period to make it a 24-20 game.

Carl Albert holds off fourth-period rallies by Indians

MIDWEST CITY – Carl Albert held off a pair of fourth-period rallies by El Reno High School’s boys basketball team to sweep the Indians in District 5A-2 action with a 64-53 victory.

The double-digit loss, the second of the year to the Titans, closed out 5A-2 play for El Reno with a 6-8 record for fifth place. The Indians slipped to 9-13 on the season.

El Reno trailed 53-32 early in the fourth before going on an 11-2 run.

Isaiah Smith had two baskets in the break, split by a 3-pointer by Jacob Nichols, before Kason Haydon hit a short jumper.

Lloyd Derald Eisenhour

Lloyd Derald Eisenhour, 92, of Edmond, passed away Feb. 14, 2026. He was born Oct. 27, 1933, in Minco to George and Bernice (Snyder) Eisenhour. He attended Fairview School southwest of Minco and Minco Public Schools, graduating in 1952. 

Lloyd was drafted into the U.S. Army on June 18, 1953, and was stationed in Taegu, South Korea, until April 1955, and was standby reserves until 1961, receiving an honorable discharge.
