Two separate accidents on I-40 Tuesday afternoon sent one man to the hospital in critical condition, while the other closed the westbound lanes after semi trucks collided.

Yukon woman sixth COVID-19 death in county
A Yukon woman is listed as among 15 new COVID-19-related deaths reported Tuesday by the Oklahoma Department of Health.
The latest victim is also the youngest to have died in Canadian County, falling in the 18- to 35-year-old category.
She is the sixth death in the county.
Commerce launches Automotive Accelerator Program to boost industry growth in Oklahoma
OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Department of Commerce (Commerce) has launched the Oklahoma Automotive Accelerator Program.
In a statement, Commerce said one of its primary goals is to continue to diversify the economy to help mitigate industry-related crises.
O-State forms technology collaboration with Baker Hughes

Juvenile director named
A new director for the Canadian County Children’s Justice Center has been named.
Associate District Judge Bob Hughey said Melanie Johnson has been named as the next director for the center.
He said she will begin her duties Aug. 24.
El Reno earns state grant for hot spots
El Reno Public Schools was one of 175 districts statewide awarded grants last week to receive part of the 50,000 mobile hot spot devices to be used for distance learning plans for the 2020-21 school term.

Movie in the Park
First Baptist Church recently held Movie in the Park Night with the showing of Toy Story 4. Families did sit together but separate groups maintained social distancing and many wore masks or face coverings. Church leaders said attendance was down more than 100 watchers due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
